The Runway Club Ireland – Supercar Event – 2017

I first saw the adverts for The Runway Club I knew it would be a great event, it did not disappoint!!

It was a few months between the promo photos being shot and the actual event taking place in August of last year. But well worth the wait.

Arriving on the day with pre – booked tickets, there was little waiting to get in and you are immediately taken in by the smell of burning rubber and the wail of supercars going flat out in the distance. The paddock where all of the cars were gathered was enjoyable to walk around and take in each car. BMW had a display on in a hangar against the backdrop of a private jet which reminded you that you are walking around a closed airport.

Helmet rental was a great idea and I am sure got many people out of a pinch! Walking to the area where the cars launched was long but worth it.

As a photographer I found it great, standing where all the cars drove back in line, I got some great shots here, also from this point there was an excellent opportunity to get photos of them launching off.

For 6 hours they blasted up and down, some with very loud exhausts for example a Decatted Lamborghini Aventador S which I had the pleasure of riding in 2 days before, and an IPE Ferrari F12 which wailed like nothing else were incredibly loud and got a great reaction from the crowds. The variety of cars for the first event I thought was phenomenal, amongst others there was a Mercedes SLR, 2 Mclaren 650S’, 2 Porsche 911 GT3RS’, Ferrari F12, Lamborghini Aventador S and a three Ferrari 458’s, including a race spec car which was not road legal. The car list even included a brand new BMW 760LI which was giving the supercars a run for their money!

Toward the end of the event when it had quietened down I managed to get a passenger run in a Mclaren 650s and a Mercedes SLR. Both were incredible cars and it was my first experience doing over 150 miles per hour.

Overall it was an incredible event and I am definitely looking forward to attending the next one!

Huge props go to the team and Runway Club Ireland for hosting such an amazing show.
